3. The Only Hotel on a Private Peninsula on Lake Zell

Many visitors don't know this: the GRAND HOTEL ZELL AM SEE is the only hotel located on its own private peninsula on Lake Zell.

Surrounded by water, our guests enjoy a private beach, spectacular lake and mountain views, and a truly unique location unlike any other in Austria.

4. The Peninsula Has Been a Popular Meeting Place for More Than 140 Years

Long before today's GRAND HOTEL was built, the peninsula was home to the "Hotel am See", featuring the famous "Wirtshaus am See", a lakeside inn that welcomed both locals and travellers until 1885.

Since 2022, this long-standing tradition has continued with the Pinzga Bräu am See, our modern lakeside brewery and restaurant.

5. We Even Brew Our Own Beer

The Pinzga Bräu am See is much more than a restaurant—it is our very own brewery.

Regional craft beers are brewed and served directly on the shores of Lake Zell. Even more special, the brewery is managed by Valentin Holleis, the eldest son of hotel owner Dr. Wilfried Holleis, continuing the family's passion for hospitality into the next generation.

6. An International Meeting Place for More Than 130 Years

Since the late 19th century, the GRAND HOTEL ZELL AM SEE has welcomed guests from all over the world.

Today, visitors continue to travel to Lake Zell to experience the unique combination of historic elegance, an exclusive lakeside location, and genuine Austrian hospitality.

7. There Used to Be Three Hotel Bars – and Even a Squash Court

Over the decades, the GRAND HOTEL has continually evolved.

In addition to a squash court, the hotel once featured three bars. The most legendary was the "Wunderbar", located on the sixth floor of the Imperial Wing, offering breathtaking panoramic views across Lake Zell.

Exciting plans already exist for this remarkable location: it is set to become home to two luxurious suites with spectacular lake views.

8. An Exclusive Pavilion for Romantic Moments

Nestled in our Rose Garden is one of the most romantic spots on Lake Zell.

Our exclusive pavilion can be reserved for romantic dinners, marriage proposals, anniversaries, honeymoons, or unforgettable celebrations. A dedicated waiter serves an exquisite five-course gourmet menu in complete privacy, surrounded by stunning lake and mountain views.
