What might a summer day with your dog at GRAND HOTEL ZELL AM SEE look like? A walk by the water, breakfast together and a little exploring, with plenty of time in between to unwind and enjoy the views. On our private peninsula on Lake Zell, you can enjoy your holiday with your four-legged companion by your side.
Early Morning: A Breath of Fresh Lakeside Air
Your day begins just outside the hotel door. Before breakfast, the GRAND HOTEL’s location right on Lake Zell invites you and your dog to enjoy a morning stroll. While your dog eagerly explores the surroundings, you can take in the fresh air and mountain views.
Choose whatever suits you both: a short morning walk or a longer stroll along the lakeshore. Afterwards, return to the hotel with breakfast to look forward to.
Breakfast: Start the Day Together
Your dog is welcome to join you for breakfast in the GRAND HOTEL’s Jägerstüberl. Settle in and take your time planning the day ahead. Will you explore the mountains or spend a leisurely day by the lake?
Your dog’s comfort afterwards is taken care of, too. Our dog welcome package includes a dog bed, a cosy blanket, food and water bowls, and a welcome treat.
Mid-Morning: Time to Explore Together
There are plenty of ways to spend a day with your dog from your base at the GRAND HOTEL. For a relaxed morning, stay close to Lake Zell and explore the lakeside paths. If you fancy venturing further afield, Zell am See-Kaprun offers a variety of outings.
Schmittenhöhe is a lovely choice for dogs who enjoy hiking. Take the cable car up into the mountains, choose a walk suited to your dog’s fitness level and bring plenty of water. Dogs require a separate ticket and must be on a lead and wear a muzzle during the cable car ride. Leads are also compulsory throughout the hiking area. From summer 2027, your Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card includes cable car rides on Schmittenhöhe, subject to the card’s conditions. A separate paid ticket is still required for your dog.
For a walk with a chance to run and play, Klammsee in Kaprun is a lovely alternative. Your dog can roam freely in the designated off-lead area. Allow plenty of breaks along the way so that you both enjoy the outing.
Afternoon: Back to the Lakeside Terrace
After exploring, return to the GRAND HOTEL. Dogs are warmly welcome on our lakeside terraces. Enjoy coffee and cake or a refreshing drink as you gaze out over Lake Zell.
Now is the time to slow down. A comfortable spot, time together and beautiful lake views can turn an afternoon with no particular plans into a memorable holiday moment.
Evening: Dine Together and Unwind
Your dog is also welcome to accompany you to dinner in the Jägerstüberl. Savour your meal and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Round off the evening with one last short stroll by the lake. Back in your room, your dog’s cosy bed awaits, while you look forward to another day together.

Practical Tips for Your Summer Day
For outings: Bring water, dog waste bags and a lead, plus a muzzle if you are planning a cable car ride.
On hot days: Walk during the cooler morning and evening hours, and allow plenty of time for rest.
At the hotel: Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the indoor and outdoor areas. Dogs are not permitted in the main restaurant areas, GRANDSPA, Classic Spa or the sunbathing lawn at the hotel’s private bathing beach.
