The fusion of the Schmittenhöhe ski region with the Leogang-Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski circus and the Tyroelan Fieberbrunn will enable you to enjoy almost endless skiing pleasure with 347 kilometres of slopes!
Merger of the ski regions in winter 2016/17: You can travel from the Salersbachköpfl (Schmittenhöhe 1,920m) via the new descent (3.3 km long red slope equipped with snow machines) to the corner station above Viehofen. You can also once again reach the Schmittenhöhe mountain station with the zellamseeXpress, a 10-cabin gondola lift. As in winter 2015/16, you can still travel into the Glemmtal via the ski route and 680 ski bus line.
Winter 2019/20: If you take the descent from Salersbachköpfl, you can not only travel to the corner station above Viehofen, but also take the 10-cabin lift directly to Viehofen (it is no longer necessary to use the ski route). You can then take the ski bus from Viehofen back down into the Glemmtal.
Ski ticket information: With the Salzburger Superskicard and Kitzbühler Alpen AllStar Card, you can weave your way down the slopes in both the multifaceted Zell am See - Kaprun ski region and the Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn ski circus.
Get your snowshoes on and go for a walk through deeply snow-covered woods. This type of walking is great exercise, lots of fun and improves conditioning.
With a far-reaching network of paths, even remote areas are accessible.
Hiking or walking is the best way to enjoy the glistening winter white in all its complete serenity. On the mountain, stop at a cosy cabin, or stroll along the path along the lake. From the shore, watch swans and ice skaters on the ice; or do what is impossible in the summertime: cross the lake to Thumersbach.
Deeply snow-covered landscapes, glass-clear mountain air and dreamy panoramas: 200 km of the cross-country runs will take you to the most impressive locations of Zell am See - Kaprun and extend even into the bordering regions.
Discover the beautiful winter wonderland during a fun-filled tobogganing party. Just around the corner, in Bruck at the Glocknerstraße, is the Berggasthof Kohlschnait. The lights of the toboggan run can be seen from afar. After a leisurely ascent by tractor and a warming stop at the inn, you race into the valley with speed and fun.
The surface of Lake Zell measures more than 4,5 km² between the Kitzsteinhorn and the Schmittenhöhe - all of it ideal for ice-skating. Should the ice be too thin, you can always practice your skills at the ice rink whenever you feel like it!
(Not only) romantics enjoy heading through the idyllic winter wonderland on a horse-drawn sleigh. Wrapped up in warm blankets, you will enjoy an unforgettable trip right around Lake Zell. And afterward, why not have some of the warming "Glühwein" (hot spiced wine) when you go for a stroll through the Christmas market?
